8 killed in 5.5-magnitude quake in northern China
11 others injured in earthquake that hit northwest China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region

BEIJING (AA) – At least 8 people died and 11 others were injured when a 5.5-magnitude earthquake hit northern China, the state media reported on Thursday.
State news agency Xinhua said the quake hit Taxkorgan County in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region at a depth of 8 km (5 miles).
Locals experienced several aftershocks following the tremor, the agency reported.
