ABC pulls 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' off air indefinitely over Charlie Kirk remarks
Late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel links killer of conservative activist to MAGA movement

ISTANBUL (AA) - The US television network ABC announced Wednesday that it is pulling “Jimmy Kimmel Live” off the air “indefinitely” following comments by the late-night talk show host about the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
“‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ will be pre-empted indefinitely,” an ABC spokesperson said, offering no further details.
A representative for Kimmel did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
During his monologue on Monday, Kimmel said: “The MAGA Gang (is) desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”
The move came after Nexstar Media Group said it would preempt the show in its ABC-affiliated markets, calling Kimmel’s remarks “offensive and insensitive.”
US Federal Communications Commission chairman Brendan Carr also called the comments “truly sick,” warning ABC’s owner Disney that “we can do this the easy way or the hard way.”
US President Donald Trump celebrated the development on his Truth Social account, writing: “Great News for America: The ratings challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED. Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done.”
