ISTANBUL (AA) - The United Arab Emirates’ capital, Abu Dhabi, hosted a discussion session Thursday marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the UAE and Türkiye.

The roundtable discussion was held by the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA) under the title: “UAE-Türkiye Relations: Towards a Strategic Future,” according to the Emirates News Agency.

The session was attended by UAE Ambassador to Türkiye Saeed Thani Hareb Al Dhaheri and Tugay Tunçer, Türkiye’s Ambassador to the UAE, as well as diplomatic and academic figures.

“The session highlighted the enduring diplomatic ties spanning five decades between the UAE and Türkiye while also underscoring the momentous 27 accords inked in the last 18 months, which include the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA),” the agency reported.

“The recently signed CEPA pledges to usher in substantial gains and lay the groundwork for the creation of 125,000 employment opportunities in the UAE and Turkish markets over the next decade,” it added.

On March 3, Ankara and Abu Dhabi signed the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, which will provide more than 100,000 jobs in Türkiye and around 25,000 in the UAE.

Türkiye and the UAE have relations dating back to 1973, in addition to cooperative relations in various fields.
