Moscow using negotiations as ‘smokescreen’ to continue its ‘aggression and terror,’ says Ukrainian foreign minister

ISTANBUL (AA) - Ukraine’s foreign minister said early on Thursday that the actions of Russian forces against Ukraine make the idea of any peace talks “absurd.”

During an interview with Japanese public broadcaster NHK, Dmytro Kuleba said that Russia is using the possibility of negotiations as a “smokescreen” to continue its “aggression and terror” against Ukraine.

Kuleba further said that Ukraine would continue the fight to liberate its territories from Russian troops.

"Ukraine will continue to liberate its land, save people from Russian crimes, torture, suffering and unbearable living conditions," he added.

Explosions were reported on Wednesday in the Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kyiv regions of Ukraine.

Ukraine’s national energy company Ukrenergo announced later that it has enacted emergency blackouts across the country due to attacks on the country's infrastructure.

Energoatom, Ukraine's national nuclear energy company, added that all power units in four nuclear power plants in the country had automatically disconnected due to a decrease in frequency.
