Afghan official's relatives also go missing in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (AA) - Two relatives of an Afghan deputy governor, who was “abducted” from a Pakistani city just four days ago, have now also gone missing, according to an Afghan consulate official Tuesday.
On Thursday, armed gunmen “kidnapped” Qazi Muhammad Nabi Ahmadi, the deputy governor of Afghanistan’s eastern Kunar province, from northwestern Peshawar city, according to Afghan officials.
Pakistani authorities neither confirmed nor denied the incident.
Ahmedi is said to be a key leader of Hizb-e-Islami Afghanistan, which is led by Gulbuddin Hekmatyar who returned to Kabul in April after a gap of 20 years following a landmark peace deal with the Afghan government in September 2016.
Now, Ahmadi’s brother -- Yaqoob Khan -- and his nephew have gone missing from remote northern district of Chitral.
"We have received information about the [going] missing of Yaqoob Khan and his nephew," Afghan Consul General for Peshawar Moeen Marstyal told Anadolu Agency via telephone.
Marstyal said a formal plea had been lodged with the Pakistani Foreign Office and local authorities for the recovery of the missing Afghans.
"The Foreign Office have assured early recovery of deputy governor and other disappeared persons," he said.
However, police said they had no information about Afghans going missing in Chitral and, so far, no one had approached them for registering a formal complaint, again.
