ISTANBUL (AA) - Afghanistan "strongly" condemned on Wednesday the Israeli strikes against Syria.
Kabul considers the strikes not only "a violation" of Syrian sovereignty, but a "systematic crime aimed at further instability' in the region, according to a statement on X by deputy Taliban interim administration spokesman Hamdullah Fitrat.
The administration calls itself the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
Afghanistan urged influential countries and institutions in the region to take responsibility against the attacks, prevent a repetition and "respect the independence and national sovereignty of the Syrian people and the legitimate government."
The Israeli army began launching airstrikes on Syrian territory on Tuesday, particularly in Suwayda, in the latest violation of the country’s sovereignty on claims of protecting the Druze in Syria.
The attacks came as the Syrian army deployed forces to the province to restore security and protect civilians and their property, following clashes between armed Druze and Bedouin groups that left at least 30 people dead.
The Syrian Interior Ministry declared a ceasefire agreement Wednesday with Druze leaders in Suwayda.
