Aides optimistic on Biden’s cancer battle, but allies voice worry, report say
Recent interactions suggest former US president appears fatigued in recent weeks amid cancer battle

Former President Joe Biden has been largely absent from public view for months as he undergoes treatment for an aggressive form of prostate cancer. While his inner circle remains optimistic, some longtime friends and close allies have expressed growing concern over the physical toll on the 83-year-old, according to a report from The Washington Post.
Biden was diagnosed in May 2025 with Stage 4 prostate cancer that had metastasized to the bone. Aides describe the condition as manageable through ongoing treatment.
Nearly a year into therapy, his team says Biden is doing well under the circumstances, staying engaged with projects such as his memoir, plans for his foundation, and the presidential library, with several public appearances reportedly in the works.
However, several longtime associates — including two former Biden officials and an elected Democrat close to him — have privately noted that he appeared noticeably more fatigued in recent weeks.
No major health updates have been issued by his office since last May when it was revealed the former US president had an aggressive, hormone-sensitive form of prostate cancer and was receiving hormone therapy, heightening concerns among some allies about the long-term impact of the disease and treatment.
Since his diagnosis, Biden has made only a handful of public appearances, attending select family events, ceremonial occasions, and private outings.
