Air France, Airbus found not guilty of involuntary manslaughter over deadly crash in 2009

ANKARA (AA) – French companies Airbus and Air France have been found not guilty over the crash of Rio de Janeiro-Paris flight in 2009, a Paris court ruled on Monday, according to local media reports.

The two companies were tried for involuntary manslaughter after 228 people died in the crash aboard aircraft AF447 flying from Rio de Janeiro to Paris.

The court ruled that even if errors were committed, no certain causal links were established, the daily Le Figaro reported.

Solidarity and support groups for victims' families expressed deep frustration over the verdict, the same source added.

On June 1, the aircraft AF447 crashed and sank in the Atlantic Ocean with 216 passengers and 12 crew members, including 72 French and 58 Brazilian nationals.
