Al Ahly beat Auckland City 3-0 to qualify for FIFA Club World Cup 2nd round

Egyptian club to face Seattle Sounders on Saturday

ANKARA (AA) - Egyptian football club Al Ahly advanced Wednesday in the 2022 FIFA Club World Cup tournament by beating New Zealand's Auckland City 3-0.

Hussein El Shahat, Mohamed Sherif and Percy Tau scored at Tangier Stadium in Morocco to take the Cairo-based club to the second round.

Al Ahly will face the American team, Seattle Sounders, on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Wydad Athletic Club from Morocco will take on Al Hilal from Saudi Arabia in the second round on the same day.

Morocco is hosting the FIFA Club World Cup.

The semifinals will be held Feb. 7 and 8.

Reigning Copa CONMEBOL Libertadores champions Flamengo from Brazil and defending UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid from Spain will join the Club World Cup in the semifinal round.

The tournament will conclude with the final Feb. 11 in Rabat.
