WASHINGTON (AA) - Police have given the all clear after several buildings in downtown Washington, D.C. were evacuated, and others, including Anadolu Agency offices, were put on lockdown amid an early Tuesday bomb scare.
"Suspicious Package at Warner Theater has been cleared and rendered safe," the Metropolitan Police Department said on Twitter. "All roads and street closures near the area have reopened."
The department earlier evacuated adjacent buildings "out of an abundance of caution."
A lockdown was placed for several buildings in the area, including the National Press Building, located about two blocks from the Warner Theater.
One Anadolu Agency correspondent was in the building throughout the lockdown.
The theater is just six blocks from the White House and is close to other government buildings, including the mayor's office.
