All sports events suspended in Italy until April 3

ANKARA (AA) - The Italian Olympic Committee announced Monday that all sports events – including Serie A football – have been suspended in the country through April 3 due to coronavirus-related health concerns, said the Olympic Committee website.

The committee added that the suspension does not cover international competitions for clubs and national teams.

Italy is the country in Europe worst hit by coronavirus, with the death toll in the country rising to 463.

The global death toll from the virus is around 3,800, with some 110,000 confirmed cases since COVID-19 emerged in China in December, according to World Health Organization (WHO).
