All-Star guard Harden re-signs with Philadelphia

ANKARA (AA) - The Philadelphia 76ers said on Wednesday that the NBA franchise has re-signed their All-Star guard James Harden.

Philadelphia 76ers President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey announced today that the team has re-signed 10-time All-Star and 13-year NBA veteran James Harden. “Per team policy, the terms of the deal were not disclosed," the Eastern Conference team said in a statement.

Harden said that he cannot wait to continue play with his 76ers teammates in the coming season, and is feeling at home at Philadelphia.

"This is where I want to be. This is where I want to win, and I think we have the pieces to accomplish that goal," Harden said.

"From my first day with the 76ers organization, the team and the fans have helped me feel at home here in Philadelphia. I’m excited to build off of last season and I can’t wait to get out on the court with the guys and start this journey," said the 32-year-old.

In February, the Brooklyn Nets traded Harden to the 76ers for Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, and Andre Drummond.

Drummond, who spent the rest of the season at Brooklyn, joined the Chicago Bulls in early July. Simmons and Curry are still playing for the Nets.

Though Philadelphia was tight-lipped on Harden’s new contract, an NBA insider last week offered up details.

"Free agent James Harden has agreed on a two-year, $68.6M deal, including a player option, to return to the 76ers, sources tell ESPN," NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski said on Twitter.

Harden was the league's Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 2018, and is a member of the NBA 75th Anniversary Team.

Last season he averaged 22 points and 10.3 assists per game with the Nets, and the 76ers.

A former Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston Rockets player, Harden helped the US national team win an Olympic gold in London 2012, and a World Cup title in Spain 2014.
