ISTANBUL (AA) – The Green Line project was established by Anadolu Agency to address “the most real problem in the world,” which is the shortening of the earth’s lifespan, complicating the life of its inhabitants, the news agency’s director-general said on Saturday.

Serdar Karagoz attended the panel, “The Story of Anadolu Agency Green Line” at the “Under 30 Summit” organized by Türkiye’s Youth and Sports Ministry at the Zorlu PSM in Istanbul.

Karagoz said communication tools are advancing, and there is a constant need to adapt.

He said Anadolu Agency, which has been producing quality news content for 102 years, has now undertaken different missions under the changing circumstances and is also making efforts to raise awareness on the environment.

The environment and climate crisis has not affected any specific country or nation but the entire world, he said, adding: “The shortening of earth’s lifespan, which is complicating the life of living beings, is the most real problem in the world” today.

“We, as Anadolu Agency, have made this our problem and made it our mission to establish Green Line to address these problems,” Karagoz said.

The director-general said that with the establishment of the Green Line, a new dimension has been added to the work by the agency on environmental issues.

“Many international corporations and agencies are doing the same. Reuters, AFP, EFE, and New York Times have also done thematic work on this.

“We have also put our environment-related stories in a thematic form under the name of Green Line. This form has provided opportunities for us to raise awareness both at national and global levels.”

The content produced by the Green Line is accessible to everyone without any charge, said Karagoz, underlining that Anadolu Agency also plans to hold an international forum on the environment, aiming to bring together environment editors from all around the world and discuss the most pressing issues of our time.
