Anadolu Agency team enters Ukrainian village liberated from Russia

KYIV, Ukraine (AA) – An Anadolu Agency team on Monday entered a village liberated by Ukrainian forces from Russian occupation.

The head of Motyzhyn village, located 30 miles west of the capital Kyiv, was executed along with her family.

The Ukrainian soldiers discovered four bodies two days ago in the woods. It was eventually understood that the bodies belonged to village head Olga Sukhenko, her husband Igor, and her son Alexander.

The fourth body has not yet been identified.

Anton Herashchenko, a senior advisor to the Ukrainian interior minister, spoke to Anadolu Agency in Motyzhyn where he arrived after its liberation.

He directly accused Russian President Vladimir Putin for the killing of the village head and her family.

After liberating the city of Bucha on April 1 from Russian forces, Ukrainian troops found piles of bodies on the streets.

Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova said 410 civilian bodies were discovered in the greater Kyiv region.

The US, UK, Germany and some EU countries accused Russia of committing “war crimes” in Ukraine, following reports of alleged atrocities in Bucha.

The Russian war against Ukraine, which started on Feb. 24, has been met with international outrage, with the European Union, US and UK among others implementing tough financial sanctions on Moscow.

At least 1,417 civilians have been killed in Ukraine and 2,038 injured, according to UN estimates, with the true figure feared to be far higher.

More than 4.1 million Ukrainians have also fled to other countries, with millions more internally displaced, according to the UN refugee agency.
