ANKARA (AA) - An online training program of new generation journalism organized by Anadolu Agency and Turkey's state-run aid agency TIKA for Uzbek media professionals kicked off on Wednesday.

The 3-day virtual training is being conducted in English language for 26 media professionals from Uzbekistan.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Bora Bayraktar, director of Anadolu Agency's News Academy, said new digital spaces and social media empower journalism but diminish the influence of mainstream, conventional media.

Against this background, one would ask whether journalism dies, but the easier access to information require analysis, and thus makes journalism even more important, he added.

Mustafa Hasim Polat, the coordinator of TIKA’s training projects, expressed his happiness to have met Uzbek media professionals.

The training program, which aims at capacity-building of Uzbek journalists, can be seen within the context of Uzbekistan and Turkey’s ambition of further improvement in bilateral ties, he added.
