ANKARA (AA) - Anadolu Agency is here with a rundown of the latest developments on the coronavirus pandemic and other news in Turkey and around the world.

- Coronavirus and other developments in Turkey

Turkey has administered over 118.36 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines since it launched an immunization drive in January, according to official figures released Sunday.

More than 55.82 million people have been given a first vaccine dose and over 49.62 million are fully vaccinated, the Health Ministry said.

Turkey has also given third booster shots to over 11.63 million people. The ministry recorded 21,624 new coronavirus cases, 189 deaths and 20,550 recoveries over the past day.

Turkey is making its defense industry independent despite "global gangs," President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Sunday.

Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, a son of former Libyan ruler Muammar Gaddafi, submitted his application Sunday to run in Libya’s upcoming presidential election, according to local media.

Russia has started supplying the S-400 air defense system to India, a Russian official confirmed Sunday.
