Anadolu correspondent Burak Milli, family pass away after major Türkiye earthquakes

Late correspondent covered many stories from Hatay and Syria border

HATAY (AA) - Anadolu Agency's Hatay correspondent Burak Milli, his wife and five-month-old baby passed away on Thursday in the aftermath of the twin quakes the epicenters of which were southern Kahramanmaras province's Pazarcık and Elbistan districts.

Burak Milli, aged 31, his wife Aysen Milli (30) and their daughter Eylul Lina were left under the rubble as a result of the destruction of the apartment they were living in Hatay's Iskenderun district.

Search and rescue teams and volunteers reached the lifeless body of the Milli family on the fourth day of the earthquake.

The remains of Burak Milli, his wife and babies were taken to the hospital morgue.

Milli, who graduated from Hatay Mustafa Kemal University's Iskenderun Vocational School, had closely witnessed the developments on the Syrian border as well as in Hatay.

The late journalist, who also has a war correspondent certificate, has written many news stories and taken photos, which also made an impression in the international media.

His photo showing Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 unmanned aerial vehicle in front of the full moon during Turkish military's Olive Branch anti-terror operation in 2018 had attracted great attention.
