Ankara exhibition celebrates Pakistan, Turkey ties

Pakistani envoy says exhibition is part of efforts to further reinforce people-to-people ties between Pakistan and Turkey

ANKARA (AA) – The Pakistani embassy in Ankara along with the Yunus Emre Institute launched a photography exhibition in Ankara on Tuesday.

The exhibition is titled “Colors of Pakistan and Turkey –Through the Lens”.

In the exhibition, more than 100 pictures taken by Pakistani photographers Gulraiz Ghouri and Faisal Rauf are being displayed.

Turkish officials, including Muhammet Balta, MP and chairman of Turkey-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group, and Burhan Kayaturk, MP and chairman of Pakistan-Turkey Cultural Association, attended the opening ceremony.

In his address, Yunus Emre Institute President Prof. Dr. Seref Ates said "meaningful exhibition is for art lovers in Ankara."

He praised the photographers for highlighting the "rich cultural connection" between Pakistan and Turkey through their pictures. He added the Yunus Emre Institute would soon open a cultural center in Pakistan that would help promote Turkish language, culture and art.

Pakistan's Ambassador to Turkey Sohail Mahmood said Pakistan and Turkey “are two very colorful countries endowed with immense natural beauty, vibrant societies and rich culture."

He said the two photographers had composed an "outstanding visual narrative, generating sharp images of the beauty and diversity of the two countries and peoples with remarkable effect.

"The togetherness of Pakistan and Turkey through their shared history and culture is a powerful element of the narrative."

He added the exhibition was part of efforts to further reinforce people-to-people ties between Pakistan and Turkey.
