LONDON (AA) - A group of protesters in London staged an anti-monarchy protest Saturday to commemorate "Republic Day 2025."
Anti-monarchy activists gathered at Trafalgar Square, to mark Republic Day in a rally, led by a leading British anti-monarchy group, Republic.
Ahead of the protest, the group said like last year, they would be gathering "to bring to life a vision of a better, fairer, more democratic Britain."
Large banners were placed in the square, with two of them reading: "Democracy not monarchy" and "Change the country for good."
Along with banners, the protesters also held many signs, with some of them reading: "Not my king" and "Abolish the monarchy."
According to the group, the day "is a reminder of what's possible, of the brilliance, ambition and creativity of ordinary people who strive to do an extraordinary thing."
The protesters also placed a 15-foot dinosaur, named Chuck, in the square which "represents the monarchy," according to the Republic.
