At least 1 killed in New York City parking garage collapse, several others injured

NEW YORK (AA) - A parking garage partially collapsed in New York City on Tuesday, leaving at least one person dead and several others injured.

Video footage from the scene shows multiple cars on top of the collapsed roof of a building in downtown Manhattan.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams confirmed that one person was killed and several others were injured.

Multiple people are feared to be trapped, the fire department said. Firefighters were pulled out of the building due to concerns over its stability.

The New York Police Department also warned people to avoid the area.
