At least 14 dead as boat capsizes off Yemen's Al-Hudaydah coast

SANAA, Yemen (AA) – A boat laden with local residents capsized off western Yemen's Al-Hudaydah province, killing at least 14 people, all women and children, the Houthi group said on Wednesday.

According to a statement cited by Houthi-run al-Masirah TV, the boat capsized in the coastal area of Al-Khouba between Alluheyah district and Kamaran Island, an island within Al-Hudaydah province.

The Houthi group, which controls the area where the incident took place, added that the dead people are 11 women and three children, while 11 others survived.

The group's statement, however, did not give any further detail on the incident.

Meanwhile, the Houthi-affiliated September26 website said an investigation is underway to identify the cause of the incident.
