Attack on TV station in Albania leaves 1 dead

ATHENS (AA) – An armed attack on a major TV station in the Albanian capital Tirana left at least one dead, local media reported on Monday.

The attack, during which automatic rifles were used, on the Top Channel’s building, took place in the early hours of the day and killed a 60-year-old security guard, the Albanian Daily News reported.

“An investigative team has been set up and under the direction of the prosecutor's office, intensive work continues to clarify the circumstances of the event and the identification and capture of the perpetrators," said the police, according to the outlet.

Remarking on the deadly attack, Prime Minister Edi Rama said the attack should receive a clear response from law enforcement agencies.

Similarly, the US Embassy in Tirana, said: “We urge law enforcement to carry out a comprehensive investigation that will bring perpetrators to justice.”
