Azeri students send letters to Afrin op. soldiers

BAKU, Azerbaijan (AA) - When the Turkish premier arrived Wednesday in the Azerbaijani capital Baku, he was welcomed by a group of students who had written letters to soldiers involved in Operation Olive Branch in Syria's Afrin.

Prime Minister Binali Yildirim expressed his gratitude to the students of the Turkic World Research Foundation's (TDAV) Ataturk Secondary School.

"Similarly to our children in Turkey, children's hearts in Baku are also with our soldiers [in Afrin]," he said.

One of the letters written by Leman Sadikzade said they will always stand with the soldiers as a nation and praised the soldiers' efforts to maintain peace.

Nihat Nesirzade, another student, wrote: "You are [referring to the soldiers] shaking the entire world with your victories."

On Jan. 20, Turkey launched Operation Olive Branch to clear YPG/PKK-Daesh terrorists from Afrin, northwestern Syria.

According to the Turkish General Staff, the operation aims to establish security and stability along Turkey’s borders and the region as well as to protect Syrians from the oppression and cruelty of terrorists.
