WASHINGTON (AA) - US President Joe Biden will host Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar for a bilateral meeting and the traditional St. Patrick’s Day, the White House said Tuesday.
“The leaders will reaffirm the close and historic partnership between the United States and Ireland and the extraordinary bonds between our two peoples,” National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters during a virtual news conference.
The two leaders will also discuss continued support for Ukraine as well as cooperation on global disputes, he said.
“And, of course, they will reaffirm their steadfast support of their Belfast Good Friday Agreement as we approach its 25th anniversary and welcome the recent agreement between the UK and the EU on the Windsor framework as an important step in preserving the Agreement’s peace dividend,” added Kirby.
Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband Douglas Emhoff will also host the prime minister, or taoiseach, for a breakfast at the Naval Observatory on Friday, according to the White House.
