WASHINGTON (AA) - President Joe Biden will speak about recent US mass shootings later Thursday, according to the White House.
"In the evening, the President will deliver remarks on the recent tragic mass shootings, and the need for Congress to act to pass commonsense laws to combat the epidemic of gun violence that is taking lives every day," it said.
The speech is expected at 7.30 p.m. Eastern Time.
The address will come in the wake of a series of shootings in past weeks.
In New York, a gunman raided a supermarket in a Black-majority area last month, killing 10 people and wounding several others.
Last week, a mass shooting at an elementary school in the state of Texas left 19 children and two adults dead.
And a shooting Wednesday in the state of Oklahoma saw a gunman kill four people, including the doctor who recently performed surgery on him, at a hospital center.
"It's time for those who obstruct and delay or block the common sense gun laws -- we need to let you know that we will not forget. We can do so much more, we have to do more," Biden said in a White House address after the school shooting in Texas.
