Biden touts economic record, says he has created manufacturing boom

TORONTO (AA) - US President Joe Biden said Friday his administration has attracted more than half a trillion dollars in private investment in manufacturing in American industries of the future to help workers and innovators.

Biden delivered remarks about his new economic plan, dubbed Bidenomics, during an event in the state of Maine, that focused on how it is helping manufacturers, innovators and workers.

"The economy grew faster than expected last quarter. And this morning, we saw data showing the last month the annual rate of inflation continued to decline. So, inflation is now as low as (any) point in two years," he said.

US unemployment has been below 4% for the longest stretch in more than 50 years, and workers are finding better jobs with better pay compared to the time before the pandemic, he said.

"Bidenomics is about growing the economy and strengthening the middle class, making things in America again," he added.
