Bomb blast at Kabul mosque kills 6, injures 20, official says

ISTANBUL (AA) - At least six people were killed and 20 others wounded as a bomb exploded in a mosque in Afghanistan’s capital Kabul during Friday prayers, authorities said.

Kabul Security Department spokesperson announced on Twitter that the blast occurred in a mosque in Police District 5 of Kabul.

Local media reported that hundreds of worshippers had gathered for prayers on the last Friday of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan and the mosque was packed.

The attack came after at least nine people were killed and 13 others wounded in two explosions on Thursday evening in Mazar-e-Sharif, a northern city of Afghanistan.

The Daesh/ISIS terror group has recently stepped up attacks across Afghanistan, challenging the Taliban who took control of the country last August.
