Borsa Istanbul down at Thursday close

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index ended at 7,221.51 points on Thursday, down by 0.51%, or 37.03 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index's highest level during the day was 7,365.61, with the lowest being 7,200.81.

The trading saw 41 indexes gaining value, while 57 lost.

The daily transaction volume reached 144.5 billion liras ($5.3 billion), while the overall value of the index was 6.1 trillion liras ($228.8 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 26.9650 as of 6.00 p.m. local time (GMT1500), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 29.5480, while the British pound traded at 34.2595 Turkish liras.
