Borsa Istanbul looking down at Monday opening

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,427.33 points on Monday, falling 6.65% or 101.66 points from the previous close.

At Friday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was down 1.41% at 1,528.99 points, with a daily trading volume of 25.9 billion Turkish liras ($3.6 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate jumped to 7.8500 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), from 7.2630 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate climbed to 9.3400, versus 8.6320, while one British pound traded for 10.9000 Turkish liras, down from 10.0750 at Thursday's close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $64.20 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
