Borsa Istanbul opens midweek looking up

BIST 100 index gains around 3.3 points from previous close

ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkey’s benchmark stock index opened at 1,374.94 points on Wednesday, up 0.24% or 3.27 points from the previous close.

At Tuesday’s close, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index was down 0.12% to 1,371.67 points, with a daily trading volume of 12.56 billion Turkish liras ($1.44 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange stood at 8.7200 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Wednesday, down slightly from 8.7280 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate inched up to 10.3800 from 10.3720, while one British pound traded for 12.0800 Turkish liras, versus 12.0860 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil was sold for $74.50 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
