Borsa Istanbul up at Thursday's open

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened on Thursday at 1,453.24 points, rising 0.28% or 4.07 points from the previous close.

At Wednesday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up by 0.11% at 1,449.17 points, with a daily trading volume of 13.6 billion liras ($1.58 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 8.5780 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Thursday, from 8.5700.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 10.4560, versus 10.4700, while one British pound traded for 12.1350 Turkish liras, up from 12.1200.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $71.85 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
