Brazilian judge orders suspension of Rumble platform nationwide

Justice Alexandre de Moraes cites non-compliance with court orders for decision

By Yasin Gungor

ISTANBUL (AA) - Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes on Friday ordered the suspension of the Rumble video platform across Brazil, citing repeated non-compliance with court orders.

Moraes accused the Florida-based video platform of failing to appoint a legal representative in the country, refusing to remove profiles as directed, and creating a “lawless land” on Brazilian social networks, the court said in a statement.

He also blamed Rumble for enabling extremist groups to spread “Nazi, racist, fascist, hateful, and anti-democratic speeches.”

Moraes ordered the president of Brazil’s National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) to enforce the suspension within 24 hours.

The decision follows a lawsuit filed by Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) and Rumble against Moraes amid his indictment of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, alleging his actions violate the First Amendment and suppress conservative voices.
