British street artist Banksy unveils new street art featuring lighthouse imagery

LONDON (AA) - Elusive British street artist Banksy on Friday revealed a new piece of artwork on his Instagram account, sparking speculation and intrigue across the art world and social media.

The piece, shared in two photographs, depicts a lighthouse formed from the shadow of a real-life bollard positioned at the edge of a pavement.

Above the image, the message “I want to be what you saw in me” is painted, adding to the mystery and emotional resonance of the work.

While Banksy did not disclose the location of the mural, London-based art dealer MyArtBroker has claimed on Instagram that the piece has appeared in the southern French port city of Marseille.

The meaning behind the artwork remains open to interpretation.

Although the artist is known for tackling themes such as war, poverty, consumerism, government corruption, and social injustice, the latest mural’s message and symbolism are more ambiguous.
