BTS K-pop star to start compulsory military service in South Korea
Suga to be 3rd BTS member to start military after Jin, J-Hope

ISTANBUL (AA) - A member of K-pop group BTS has dropped a request to delay his mandatory military service, the popular boy band announced.
"We would like to inform our fans that Suga has initiated the military enlistment process by applying for the termination of his enlistment postponement," BTS said in a statement on Monday evening.
BTS vowed to “spare no effort in providing support” for Suga, whose name is Min Yoon-gi.
After fellow artists Jin and J-Hope, Suga has become the third member of BTS to begin his military service.
Jin started his mandatory service in December 2022, and J-Hope in April.
South Korea requires able-bodied males to enlist in the military by the time they turn 28 and perform mandatory service for 18-21 months.
In 2020, an amendment was made to give two years extension to K-pop artists just before Jin’s 28th birthday.
