WASHINGTON (AA) - Roads reopened in storm-hit Buffalo, New York while the search is underway for the victims of a deadly blizzard hitting the city over the Christmas holiday.

Death toll in Buffalo reached 37, according to Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz, who reported three more deaths on Twitter on Wednesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Buffalo mayor Byron Brown announced on Thursday that they lifted the six-day travel ban in the city until “further notice” .

“Our goal was to make significant progress today in clearing our roads of vehicles and snow so that we could lift the ban in the City of Buffalo tonight and that’s exactly what we’re doing,” said Mayor Brown. “While we’re lifting the travel ban and replacing it with a travel advisory, we are still encouraging people to be careful.”

Crews are continuing their snow removal and hauling efforts, according to local authorities, who reportedly said that melting down snow could reveal more victims.
