Bulgaria to hold early elections on Oct. 2
President Rumen Radev appoints Galab Donev to lead caretaker government
By Ihvan Radoykov
SOFIA, Bulgaria (AA) - Bulgaria will hold snap elections on Oct. 2, the country’s president’s office said on Tuesday, as the third and final attempt to form a government in the country failed last week.
President Rumen Radev also dissolved parliament and appointed Galab Donev to lead a caretaker government.
The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), which on July 18 was given the mandate to form a government, officially returned it to the president on July 28.
The elections will be the fourth in two years for the country, which has been marred by political instability since Prime Minister Kiril Petkov’s government was toppled in a no-confidence vote in June.
