SOFIA (AA) - Bulgarian National Radio celebrated the 72nd anniversary of its Turkish service.

"We have a long tradition and history as the Turkish service in the Bulgarian [National] Radio," Tanya Blagova, the director of Turkish service, told Anadolu Agency on Wednesday which also marks the World Radio Day.

Blagova underlined that the Turkish service was launched only a year after the BNR began broadcasting in 1946.

"We put a special emphasis on the stories coming from the regions intensely populated by the Turkish community. We introduce Turks who standout in different fields and offer special productions for the listeners," she said.

Blagova said Turkish was the second most-followed foreign language BNR broadcasts in after English.

Sevda Dukkanci, the producer of the Turkish service's "From Yesterday to Today" program, said BNR was like a living memory for the Turkish language in the country.
