TUNCELI, Turkey (AA) – At least nine people were injured in a car bomb attack on a residential complex for members of Turkey’s judiciary in eastern Tunceli province Monday, Turkish security sources said.
According to the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media, a PKK suicide bomber detonated a bomb-laden car inside the housing complex where members of the judiciary, including judges live in the province’s Ovacik district.
Three of the nine injured people were in critical condition, who were immediately airlifted to the Ovacik State Hospital, hospital sources said.
The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization also by the U.S., and the EU -- resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.
Since then, more than 500 security personnel, including troops, police officers, and village guards, have been martyred and over 4,900 PKK terrorists killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
