Car of German far-right AfD lawmaker set ablaze in suspected arson attack

BERLIN (AA) - A car belonging to a prominent German far-right AfD lawmaker was set ablaze early Monday outside his home in what police are investigating as a suspected arson.

Bernd Baumann, the AfD's chief parliamentary coordinator, was awakened at 5 am by police officials who informed him about the fire outside his home, according to his office.

A private video from his team showed three cars completely burned out and a fourth with significant fire damage.

Investigators believe the perpetrators first set fire to one car, with flames then spreading to three other nearby vehicles, according to media reports. Police confirmed they are investigating the incident as suspected arson, but have found no trace of the perpetrators so far.
