Cargo plane tips over during landing in Russia's Novy Urengoy city
An-12 aircraft lands with landing gear malfunction, airport temporarily closed, according to authorities

ISTANBUL (AA) – A cargo plane flying from Sabetta to the Novy Urengoy city in Russia tipped onto its left side during landing after its left landing gear failed to lock, according to the city’s emergency dispatch service on Wednesday.
The An-12 aircraft was carrying eight crew members, and no fatalities or serious injuries were reported, officials confirmed earlier.
The Ural Transport Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation into the incident, stating that the flight was a commercial operation.
Novy Urengoy Airport has been temporarily closed for arrivals and departures following the incident.
The regional Health Department said three emergency medical teams were dispatched to the scene. All crew members were examined, with no severe injuries recorded.
One person was hospitalized as a precaution, but his condition is not life-threatening, the department added.
The Antonov An-12 is a Soviet-era cargo aircraft commonly used for commercial and military transport.
