Chelsea to host Borussia Dortmund in Champions League

ISTANBUL (AA) - Chelsea will look to qualify for the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals as they take on Borussia Dortmund in the Round of 16 second leg on Tuesday.

The game will kick off at 2000 GMT at Stamford Bridge as Danny Makkelie from the Netherlands has been appointed to referee the match.

In a news conference, Dortmund coach Edin Terzic said: "After this game, we want to be among the eight most successful teams in Europe this season."

Terzic also provided an update on goalie Gregor Kobel's condition. "Gregor has been receiving treatment in Dortmund for the last two days. He has felt better every day. We will work with him and decide after the session if he can play."

Chelsea manager Graham Potter, for his part, said that it is “a big and exciting game.”

"Our thoughts are positive and we're trying to win the game. They're a top opponent and are in a fantastic vein of form, winning games constantly," Potter added.

Playing at Signal Iduna Park, Borussia Dortmund won the first leg with a goal from Karim Adeyemi.

Benfica will host Club Brugge at Estadio da Luz in another last-16 second-leg game on Tuesday. The Portuguese club took a major step toward the quarterfinals after a 2-0 win over the Belgian side.

The 2022/23 Champions League final will take place at Istanbul's Ataturk Olympic Stadium on June 10.
