China 'hopes' US takes steps to keep chips' global supply chains 'stable, unimpeded'

ISTANBUL (AA) - China on Tuesday expressed hope that the US takes steps to keep the global supply chain for processors "stable and unimpeded."

"We hope the US will take concrete actions to keep the global industrial and supply chains stable and unimpeded," said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian in a statement, adding that Beijing "has made clear" its position more than once on the issue.

Beijing's reaction came after US President Donald Trump confirmed that an agreement had been reached with the chip manufacturer Nvidia to pay 15% of the revenue from “H20” chips sold to China to the US government.

Trump added that an agreement on the new Blackwell chip's export to China could be reached if the chip is designed in a less advanced manner.

Separately, Bloomberg reported on Tuesday, citing sources familiar with the situation, that Beijing has urged local companies to avoid using Nvidia's H20 processors, particularly for government-related purposes.
