China imposes anti-dumping duties on essential component for rubber products from Japan
Duties of 40.5% will continue to be levied on imports from all Japanese companies over next 5 years, says Commerce Ministry

ISTANBUL (AA) - China announced on Saturday that it will continue to impose anti-dumping duties on resorcinol, an essential component for rubber products, originating from Japan.
The Commerce Ministry of the world’s second-largest economy stated that duties of up to 40.5% will continue to be levied from Sunday on all Japanese companies exporting the chemical component, according to the state-run Xinhua News.
The duties will remain in effect for the next five years, it added.
Beijing’s decision follows an anti-dumping investigation that began in March last year, after which the ministry concluded that the dumping of imported resorcinol from Japan may continue or recur, potentially causing continued or renewed harm to the domestic industry if the anti-dumping duties are terminated.
With this new extension, China's anti-dumping duties on Japan's resorcinol imports remain unchanged since the five-year levy was imposed in 2013, with a subsequent five-year extension in 2019.
Resorcinol is used mainly in the manufacturing of tires and other fiber-reinforced rubber goods.
