By James Kunda
LUSAKA, Zambia (AA) - Zambia on Friday said it had contained a cholera outbreak, with the southern African nation recording 625 cases and nine deaths since September 2025.
Speaking to reporters in the capital Lusaka, Health Minister Elijah Muchima said no new cases had been reported in the recent past, with surveillance records confirming the outbreak had been fully contained.
"This success is due to coordinated efforts by various ministries and institutions, which underscores the importance of collaboration in public health," Muchima said.
He asked citizens not to drop their guard, as personal hygiene remained the first line of defense in safeguarding public health.
