CIA urged Chinese to collaborate for ‘a better future'

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) published two videos Thursday that urged the Chinese to cooperate to create “a better future."

The intelligence agency protested the videos on social media, promoting a "secure" way to contact the CIA.

The videos depict high-ranking Chinese officials disillusioned with the system, choosing to secretly cooperate with the CIA in hopes of reclaiming control over their lives and securing a better future.

Both videos include appeals to Chinese citizens, especially public officers, with access to sensitive information to reach out, particularly those working in defense, national security, diplomacy, science or advanced technology sectors.

The CIA explicitly asks for information about Chinese policies related to those areas and inside information about the Chinese Communist Party, promising assistance for those "worried about the future."

"We understand that there are many reasons behind what motivated the Chinese to contact the CIA in a secure manner. We value and respect all those who are willing to open a dialogue with us," the agency said in the “Reasons for cooperation: creating a better future" and "Reasons for choosing cooperation: Become the master of your own destiny" videos.

China has not immediately responded to the recruitment campaign.
