Climate activists paint orange facade of French Ministry of Ecological Transition

Three climate activists want to draw attention to climate issues by spraying orange paint on the walls of state buildings in Paris

ANKARA (AA) – Climate activists in Paris spray painted the facade of France's Ministry of Ecological Transition orange on Friday.

In a bid to draw attention to climate issues and government inaction to address them, footage released by the group Derniere Renovation (Last Renovation) showed three activists spraying bright orange the outer walls and doors of the ministry, as well as the curb in front of the building.

They were quickly stopped by intervening police officers, who detained the activists.

On Twitter, the group accused the ministry of being "ecological in name only" and of lacking ambition to act on environmental issues.

"Our country has the resources and the knowledge necessary to initiate a major rescue plan. If we don't, it's because the government has other priorities than our survival," it added.

This came after the same group staged a similar protest on the premier's office in Paris, the Matignon, as well as the headquarters of the Ministry of Economy, earlier this week.
