Coalition airstrikes kill 7 Daesh terrorists in N.Syria
Turkish fighter jets hit many Daesh targets in the same area, say military sources

ANKARA (AA) – Airstrikes by U.S.-led coalition forces killed seven Daesh terrorists in the northern Syrian towns of Arsak and Dabiq while Turkish fighter jets hit many Daesh targets in the same area Sunday, military sources told Anadolu Agency.
The Turkish fighter jets destroyed two Daesh defensive positions, three command and control positions, and a transmitting antenna as part of the ongoing Operation Euphrates Shield, said the sources, speaking on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking with the media.
Additionally, coalition forces destroyed two defensive positions of the terrorist organization.
Turkey launched Operation Euphrates Shield on Aug. 24 to drive Daesh out of the border region. The mission has seen Turkish air power, tanks, artillery, and troops support the Free Syrian Army across northern Syria.
The operation is in line with the country’s right to self-defense borne out of international treaties and a mandate given to Turkey’s armed forces by its parliament in 2014, which was extended for another year in September 2015.
Syria has been locked in a vicious civil war since early 2011, when the Bashar al-Assad regime cracked down on pro-democracy protests – which erupted as part of the Arab Spring uprisings – with unexpected ferocity.
