Coalition raid kills 8 civilians in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR / ANKARA (AA) – At least eight civilians were killed in a U.S.-led coalition airstrike in Syria’s eastern Deir ez-Zor province, according to local sources on Wednesday.

The attack targeted the Daesh-held Bagoz town in the province late Tuesday, the sources said on condition of anonymity due to security concerns.

The casualties included three children and five women, who were fleeing clashes between Daesh militants and the PYD/PKK terrorist group in the area, the sources said.

The U.S.-led coalition has yet to comment on the attack.

Over the past few months, the U.S. carried out numerous strikes on different structures throughout Syria, with the claim they hosted Daesh terrorists, killing dozens of civilians.

The coalition admitted last month that it was responsible for the deaths of at least 1,139 civilians in Iraq and Syria since beginning airstrikes in August 2014.

Despite U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw troops from Syria, the coalition continues to conduct airstrikes in the region.
