Colombian leader hails image of Israeli hostage kissing Hamas militant: 'This is peace'

ISTANBUL (AA) – Colombia’s president hailed an image of an Israeli hostage kissing a Hamas militant on the forehead, saying: “This is peace.”

Gustavo Petro on Sunday commented on a post on X featuring a photo of Omer Shem Tov kissing the forehead of a member of Hamas’ al-Qassam Brigades before his release under a ceasefire deal.

"This is peace. This is humanity, this is love and solidarity in the worst moment. This is how life can resist and how it can be,” Petro said.

On Saturday, Shem Tov kissed the forehead of a militia member before his release.

Footage of the incident made headlines in the Arab world, while Israeli media ignored it.
