ANKARA (AA) - The International Football Association Board (IFAB) announced Wednesday that live communications between referees and the video assistant referee (VAR) will be published at the 2022 FIFA Club World Cup next month in Morocco.

The new system will be on a trial basis for 12 months for international competitions, IFAB said in a statement.

The Board agreed that the latest developments in VAR technology, such as semi-automated offside technology used at the most recent World in Qatar, may be used in more competitions.

Some clarifications relating to the Laws of the Game 2023-24, including new guidelines on “deliberate play” in offside situations, were also discussed by the IFAB.

When an opponent moves and touches the ball, an attacking player who is clearly in an offside position should not become “onside” on all occasions and new “deliberate play” guidelines will be decided, according to the changes.

IFAB, founded in 1886, is the body that determines the laws of the game concerning association football.

The FIFA Club World Cup is an international men's football competition organized by the International Association Football Federation (FIFA) since 2000.

The knockout tournament involves seven clubs competing for the title at venues of the host nation during a period two-week period. The tournament includes the winners of the year's AFC Champions League (Asia), CAF Champions League (Africa), CONCACAF Champions League (North, Central America and Caribbean), CONMEBOL Libertadores (South America), OFC Champions League (Oceania), UEFA Champions League (Europe) and the host nation's national champion.
